Marahoue National Park

Marahoue national park was established in 1968 and is another of Ivory Coast’s abundant forest national parks located in south central parts of the country- acres at the north of Yamoussaukro – Paloa Road. The park today covers just 1,000sq km much of it fallen to destruction due to increased human pressure and encroachment on the protected area.

Wildlife

This park is an important birding area in Cote d’ivore and more than 280 birds are found in the protected area. Some of the resident species include the guinea fowl, francolin, hawk, duck, Turaco, wood dove, hawk eagle, Eagle owl, kingfisher, roller, bee-eater, nightjar, hornbill, barbet, honeyguide, woodpecker and many other species.

There are also different mammals in the park and some of them include African forest elephant, kob, crocodiles, buffalos, mongoose, bongo, panther and hippos among other forest species.
