Botanic Garden of Pamplemousses-Mauritius

The Botanic Garden of Pamplemousses is among the primary tourist attractions in Mauritius. A trip to this lush garden shouldn’t be skipped out. The garden was made in 1736, once the French governor Mahé de Labourdonnais settled here. First gardens had  plants from Asia and Europe and through the years increased to incorporate more plant species from all around the world.

The successor of Labourdonnais, Pierre Poivre had the ambitious goal to interrupt the spice monopoly from the Nederlander and constantly broadened the garden. Around 1988 the botanical garden was handed the title Seewosagur Ramgoolam Botanic Garden Pamplemousses in memory from the “Father of Independence”, the very first Mauritian prime minister. His tomb is niot far and could be visited within the park.

The park measures 37 hectare and around 600 plant species from all around the world are thriving well here. The garden is made with palmtree pathways and intricate paths through banyan trees using their impressing aerial roots. The pathways wind to large and small  fishponds, a bawn with giant tortoises along with a deer park.

The favorite place from the park is the lake with giant water lilies whose leaves are meant to have the ability to carry the load of the infant. Another star from the park may be the talipot palmtree that blosooms once in 40 years. This trees is mysterious and discovering it within the blossom in your Mauritius holiday is a lucky sight you will not revive. In addition, a classic sugar mill along with a white colonial rental property having a photo exhibition about the good reputation for the Mauritian independence could be visited close to the Garden park. It is perfectly normal for Mauritius Tours around the Garden to last for eventually as it is a paradise spot to be.
