Explore Zimbabwe’s Top Wildlife Parks & Scenic Wonders in 10 Days – Big Game, River Cruises & Wilderness Adventure
Zimbabwe Safaris | Victoria Falls Tours | Hwange National Park Safaris | Lake Kariba & Mana Pools Expeditions
Upon landing at Victoria Falls International Airport, you will be welcomed and transferred to your lodge near the mighty Victoria Falls. After check-in, unwind before setting out on a Zambezi River sunset cruise. As you sail upstream, enjoy sightings of hippos, crocodiles, and elephants along the water’s edge, all while sipping drinks and enjoying light snacks.
The evening ends with dinner at your lodge and a restful overnight.
Accommodation: Ilala Lodge or similar
Start the morning with a guided walking tour of Victoria Falls, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. The waterfall spans over 1,700 meters and drops more than 100 meters into the gorge below, creating a dramatic wall of mist.
Later in the day, take part in optional excursions: a helicopter flight above the falls, bungee jumping, or a village cultural experience. You may also visit the local market or enjoy high tea at the Victoria Falls Hotel.
Accommodation: Ilala Lodge or similar
After breakfast, transfer by road (approx. 4 hours) to Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe’s largest wildlife reserve, covering 14,651 square kilometers. The park is home to large herds of elephant, buffalo, giraffe, lion, and over 100 other mammal species.
Enjoy lunch at your lodge before heading out on your first game drive in the park’s woodlands and grasslands.
Accommodation: Somalisa Camp, The Hide, or similar
Spend the day on both morning and afternoon game drives in different sections of Hwange. This park is known for its predator populations including lion, leopard, wild dog, and cheetah. Birders can expect to see kori bustards, southern ground hornbills, and bateleur eagles.
In between activities, relax at your camp with views over waterholes that attract animals throughout the day.
Optional night drive available.
Accommodation: Somalisa Camp or similar
Begin the morning with a guided walking safari. An armed ranger will lead you through the bush, identifying animal tracks, birds, and plant life while explaining the ecosystem’s inner workings.
After brunch, relax at your lodge or watch wildlife from a hide. In the afternoon, take another game drive into a different part of the park to observe predators on the move as the temperatures cool.
Accommodation: Somalisa Camp or similar
Depart Hwange for Lake Kariba, either by air or a combination of road and charter flight depending on your package. On arrival, settle into your lakeside lodge. Lake Kariba is one of the world’s largest man-made lakes, famous for its calm waters and abundant wildlife along the shoreline.
In the late afternoon, head out on a boat safari, ideal for spotting hippos, crocodiles, and elephant families drinking at the water’s edge. The boat allows close but safe views of wildlife.
Accommodation: Bumi Hills Safari Lodge or similar
After breakfast, take a guided walking safari on the shores or surrounding hills. Your expert guide will share knowledge about the region’s flora, spoor, and game trails. Depending on conditions, a visit to a local fishing village can also be arranged.
In the afternoon, cruise among the islands, enjoying Kariba’s scenic beauty and wildlife that includes waterbuck, bushbuck, and plentiful birdlife.
Accommodation: Bumi Hills Safari Lodge or similar
This morning, board a light aircraft flight to Mana Pools National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Africa’s top wildlife destinations. Located along the Lower Zambezi River, it is famous for walking safaris, canoe safaris, and up-close wildlife interactions.
Upon arrival, relax at camp before an evening game drive.
Accommodation: Zambezi Expeditions Camp or Nyamatusi Camp
Begin your day with a walking safari through riverine forests and open floodplains. Mana Pools is one of the few parks where walking among big game is permitted and safe under the guidance of trained professionals. Elephant, buffalo, and lion are often seen at close range.
In the afternoon, paddle down the Zambezi River on a guided canoe trip, passing hippos, crocodiles, and birds. End the day with sundowners on the riverbank.
Accommodation: Zambezi Expeditions or Nyamatusi Camp
Enjoy a final early morning walk or game drive before breakfast. You will then take a charter flight to Harare or Victoria Falls for your outbound international flight.
Your 10-day Zimbabwe safari comes to a close with unforgettable views, wildlife encounters, and memories from the country’s most iconic parks.
