Take a morning flight from Addis Ababa to Bahir Dar, a vibrant city along the shores of Lake Tana. Upon arrival, explore Lake Tana, renowned for its ancient island monasteries and traditional papyrus boats. In the afternoon, visit the spectacular Blue Nile Falls, one of Ethiopia's most iconic natural attractions. Overnight: Bule Nile resort
After breakfast, drive to Gondar, the former imperial capital of Ethiopia. Discover the historic Royal Enclosure, which includes Fasilides’ Palace, Fasilides’ Bath, Qusquam Church, and the beautifully adorned Debre Berhan Selassie Church, celebrated for its ceiling of angelic frescoes.

Drive to Debark and register at the park headquarters before beginning your trek to Sankaber Camp (3,200 m). Along the route, enjoy breathtaking panoramas and encounter unique wildlife, including Gelada baboons.

Trek from Sankaber to Geech (3,600 m) on a scenic 5–7 hour journey. En route, visit the Jinbar River and its stunning waterfall, surrounded by dramatic cliffs and diverse wildlife. In the afternoon, explore Imet Gogo, one of the park’s most breathtaking viewpoints. Overnight Camping at Geech
Enjoy a morning trek around the Jinbar Waterfall, often referred to as "Ethiopia's Grand Canyon." Later, return to Gondar for rest and relaxation.

Take a flight to Lalibela, Ethiopia’s renowned "New Jerusalem." Visit the first group of rock-hewn churches, including Bet Medhane Alem, Bet Mariam, and Bet Meskel, marveling at their architectural and spiritual significance.

Begin the day with an early hike to Erta Ale to experience the volcano at sunrise. Return to camp for breakfast, then drive to Lake Afdera for relaxation, swimming, and enjoying the natural hot springs. In the late afternoon, drive back to Mekelle. Overnight: Homeland Hotel, Mekelle
1. Health & Fitness Requirements
• This itinerary involves moderate to strenuous trekking, particularly in Simien Mountains National Park and at Erta Ale.
• The climb to Abuna Yemata Guh requires good physical fitness and is not recommended for travelers with severe vertigo or mobility issues.
• High altitudes (above 3,000m) may cause mild altitude symptoms. Proper acclimatization and hydration are important.
2. Climate & Travel Conditions
• Ethiopia has varied climates:
o Cool highlands (Simien Mountains, Lalibela)
o Very hot desert conditions in the Danakil Depression (temperatures may exceed 45°C / 113°F).
• The best travel seasons are October to March (dry season).
• Road conditions in remote areas (Danakil & Tigray) can be rough and require 4WD vehicles.
3 Accommodation Standards
• Accommodation varies throughout the journey:
o Comfortable mid-range hotels in cities like Addis Ababa, Gondar, and Mekelle
o Basic lodges in Lalibela and Hawzien
o Camping in the Simien Mountains and Danakil region (simple but well-organized setups)
Expect variations in service standards outside major cities.
4 Cultural Etiquette
• Ethiopia is deeply religious. Modest dress is recommended when visiting churches and monasteries, including the Rock-Hewn Churches of Lalibela.
• Shoes must be removed before entering churches.
• Always ask permission before photographing local people.
