12 Days Kenya Safari Adventure: Masai Mara, Lake Nakuru, Naivasha, Amboseli, Tsavo West & Tsavo East

Arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO), where your safari guide will welcome you and transfer you to your hotel in Nairobi. Receive a full safari briefing and relax after your journey. Depending on arrival time, you may opt for a short city tour or visit the Giraffe Centre or Karen Blixen Museum (optional).

After breakfast, depart for Masai Mara National Reserve, driving through the Great Rift Valley with stops for photos at viewpoints. Arrive at your lodge in time for lunch, followed by an afternoon game drive.
Spot elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, and if lucky, the big cats, lion, cheetah, and leopard, as the sun sets on the Mara plains.

Overnight: Safari Lodge/Tented Camp in Masai Mara

Spend the day on a full-day safari in Masai Mara, one of Africa’s finest game reserves. With a packed lunch, explore different zones in search of the Big Five and other species like hyenas, jackals, hippos, and crocodiles.
During the migration season (July–October), you may witness the dramatic wildebeest river crossings.

Optional: Cultural visit to a Masai village to learn about traditional customs (additional fee).

Overnight: Masai Mara

Start with an early sunrise game drive, when predators are most active. Return for breakfast and enjoy time at leisure, relax by the pool, read, or explore the surroundings. You can opt for a guided nature walk with a local ranger or take a hot air balloon safari (advance booking required, extra cost).

Drive to Lake Nakuru National Park (approx. 5–6 hrs), arriving for lunch. In the afternoon, enjoy a game drive to view flamingos, white rhinos, black rhinos, leopards, and the endangered Rothschild’s giraffe.
The park is also home to lions, baboons, and hundreds of bird species.

Overnight: Lodge in/near Lake Nakuru

After breakfast, take a short drive to Lake Naivasha, a tranquil freshwater lake. Enjoy a boat safari spotting hippos, cormorants, fish eagles, and kingfishers.
Later, visit Crescent Island Game Sanctuary for a guided walking safari among zebras, giraffes, wildebeests, and antelopes. Optional visit to Hell’s Gate National Park for cycling or hiking.

Overnight: Naivasha Lodge or Camp

Drive southeast to Amboseli National Park (approx. 6–7 hrs). Check in to your lodge or tented camp and enjoy a short evening game drive. Amboseli is home to massive elephant herds and stunning Mount Kilimanjaro backdrops.

Overnight: Amboseli Lodge/Camp with Kilimanjaro Views
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Set out early for game drives through Amboseli’s open plains, wetlands, and acacia woodlands. Enjoy clear views of Kilimanjaro in the morning and excellent opportunities to photograph elephants, zebras, buffaloes, and birds near the marshes.
Visit Observation Hill for panoramic views.

Drive to Tsavo West National Park (approx. 4 hrs), famous for its lava flows, rocky hills, and Mzima Springs, where you can view hippos and fish from an underwater hide.
Afternoon game drive may reveal leopards, bush babies, and lesser kudu.

Overnight: Tsavo West Safari Lodge
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

After breakfast, transfer to Tsavo East, home to dust-red elephants, maneless lions, and vast open plains. Enjoy lunch and an afternoon game drive in this raw and less-touristed wilderness.
Key sites include the Galana River, Aruba Dam, and Lugard Falls.

Overnight: Tsavo East Lodge or Camp
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Spend a full day exploring Tsavo East. Search for cheetahs, zebras, ostriches, giraffes, and elephants across the vast terrain. You may opt for a picnic bush lunch or return to the lodge for hot meals between drives.
This is a day to soak in the silence, scenery, and sense of wildness.

Overnight: Tsavo East

After breakfast, check out and transfer back to Nairobi (5–6 hrs) or continue to Mombasa (4 hrs) if combining your safari with a coastal beach extension.
Drop-off at your hotel or airport, marking the end of your 12-day Kenya safari adventure.
