Day 1: Arrival in Bissau – City Tour and Local Markets
Arrive at Osvaldo Vieira International Airport in Bissau. After airport assistance and transfer to your hotel, meet your guide for an afternoon walking tour of the capital.
Visit the Old Portuguese Quarter, where faded colonial buildings, cobbled streets, and balconies reflect the country’s past. Continue to the Fortaleza d’Amura, which houses the mausoleum of Amílcar Cabral, a leader in Guinea-Bissau’s independence movement.
Stroll through the Bissau Velho area, and browse Bandim Market, the city’s busiest trading hub. It’s a great place to see traditional fabrics, cashew nuts, seafood, and everyday local life.
