Day 1: Arrival in Antananarivo – Transfer to Andasibe Rainforest

Upon arrival at Ivato International Airport in Antananarivo, you will be met by your driver-guide and begin the 3.5-hour drive to Andasibe-Mantadia National Park, located in the eastern highland rainforests. The scenic journey passes rice fields, small villages, and eucalyptus groves before arriving at your forest lodge.

Depending on your arrival time, you may visit a nearby private reserve such as Vakona Forest Lodge’s Lemur Island, where rescued lemurs can be seen up close. In the evening, take a guided night walk along the forest edge to spot nocturnal species like mouse lemurs, tree frogs, and chameleons.

Day 2: Full Day in Andasibe – Lemur Tracking and Rainforest Walks

After an early breakfast, head into Andasibe National Park for a guided nature walk in search of the famous Indri indri, the largest living lemur known for its haunting calls. The park also hosts diademed sifakas, brown lemurs, and bamboo lemurs, as well as over 100 bird species including the Madagascar paradise flycatcher and the blue coua.

The hike will take you through dense rainforest trails rich in orchids, ferns, and moss-covered trees. In the afternoon, visit Mantadia National Park, about an hour away, for a more rugged trekking experience through primary forest. Alternatively, explore the Analamazaotra Reserve nearby.

Return to your lodge in the evening for dinner and relaxation.

Day 3: Return to Antananarivo – Departure or Extension

After breakfast, begin the drive back to Antananarivo, arriving by early afternoon. Depending on your flight time or onward plans, enjoy a short city tour or visit a local artisan market for crafts and souvenirs. Drop-off will be at your hotel or at the airport for your outbound flight.
