Arrival in Dakar – City Tour & African Renaissance Monument

Arrive at Blaise Diagne International Airport near Dakar. After meeting your guide, transfer to your hotel for check-in and refreshment. Begin your exploration of Dakar, the capital of Senegal and one of West Africa’s most important cultural centers.

Visit the African Renaissance Monument, a 49-meter-high bronze statue offering panoramic views of Dakar from its hilltop location. Stop at Place de l’Indépendance and explore the colonial buildings, markets, and craft shops nearby.

Later, visit the IFAN Museum of African Arts, which holds a rich collection of West African masks, textiles, and cultural artifacts. Return to your hotel for dinner and rest.

Gorée Island – Slave History & UNESCO Heritage Site

After breakfast, transfer to the port and board a ferry to Gorée Island (approx. 20 minutes), a UNESCO World Heritage Site with deep historical significance.

Tour the House of Slaves, a museum memorializing the transatlantic slave trade. Walk along narrow cobbled streets lined with pastel-colored colonial houses. Visit the Gorée Island Church, artisan markets, and the Historical Museum of Senegal housed in Fort d’Estrées.

Enjoy lunch at a seaside restaurant before returning to Dakar in the afternoon. In the evening, consider a walk along the Corniche, a coastal promenade popular with locals.

Pink Lake (Lac Rose) – Departure

After breakfast, drive northeast of Dakar to visit Lac Retba, also known as the Pink Lake, famous for its high salt content and unique pink hue caused by algae and minerals.

Meet local salt harvesters, take a ride in a 4x4 vehicle around the dunes, and, if available, ride camels along the shore. You may also take a short canoe trip on the lake depending on water levels.

Return to Dakar for lunch or proceed directly to Blaise Diagne International Airport for your departure flight.
