Day-by-Day Itinerary
Arrival in Djibouti City – Orientation and Local Markets
Arrive at Djibouti–Ambouli International Airport, meet your local guide, and transfer to your hotel in Djibouti City.
In the afternoon, take a city orientation tour including the Place Menelik, Hamoudi Mosque, and a walk through the central market, where locals sell spices, woven baskets, and frankincense. Stop by the Port of Djibouti for views over the Gulf of Tadjoura.

Lake Assal and Ardoukoba Volcano – Geological Wonders
After breakfast, depart westward on a full-day excursion. Stop at Goubet al-Kharab, also called the "Devil’s Cauldron," a bay surrounded by sharp volcanic formations. Continue to Lake Assal, the lowest point in Africa at 155 meters below sea level, known for its white salt crust and turquoise water.
Hike around the lake’s edge and observe salt miners and caravans. If time allows, take a short walk to the Ardoukoba Volcano, an extinct vent between Lake Assal and Ghoubet.
Return to Djibouti City by evening.

Day Trip to Tadjoura – Coastline and Cultural Discovery
Take an early ferry across the Gulf of Tadjoura to Tadjoura, one of the oldest towns in the region, known for its whitewashed houses and laid-back atmosphere.
Visit the Sultan’s Palace ruins, the old mosque, and stroll through the coastal streets. Enjoy fresh seafood at a local restaurant. If weather permits, you may stop to swim or snorkel at a quiet beach nearby before returning to Djibouti City in the late afternoon.
