4 Days Kibale Chimpanzee Tracking Safari Uganda

4 Days $1,100 – $1,500

  • Tour Details

Kibale Forest National Park is the chimpanzee capital of East Africa, home to thirteen species of primate and the highest concentration of chimpanzees anywhere in Africa. This focused four-day safari is built around two encounters with our closest evolutionary cousins – one a standard tracking experience, the other a deeper full-day habituation experience.

You will fly into Entebbe and travel west to the lush mid-altitude rainforest of Kibale, where Uganda Wildlife Authority guides lead small groups in search of the resident chimp community. Watching wild chimps groom, hunt, play, and call through the canopy is profoundly affecting – they are unmistakably aware of you, and just as curious about you as you are of them.

The itinerary also includes a walk through the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, where you may see another seven primate species including the black-and-white colobus and grey-cheeked mangabey. With short transit days, comfortable lodge accommodation, and only one major activity each day, this trip suits travellers who want a primate-focused experience without the longer overland miles of a full Uganda circuit.
