Arrive at Moshoeshoe I International Airport near Maseru, the capital of Lesotho. Meet your local guide and transfer to your hotel in the city. After settling in, depart for a guided afternoon tour of Thaba Bosiu, the historical mountain fortress where King Moshoeshoe I established the Basotho nation in the 19th century.
Walk through the Thaba Bosiu Cultural Village, which offers insights into traditional Basotho homesteads, leadership customs, and resistance to colonial forces. Hike to the plateau summit for views over the surrounding plains and learn about the sacred significance of the site.
Return to Maseru in the evening for dinner at a local restaurant serving pap, moroho, and grilled meat.

After breakfast, depart Maseru for the highland village of Semonkong, located approximately 3.5 hours away through dramatic mountainous terrain. Along the way, enjoy photo stops in small rural settlements and view traditional thatched huts.
On arrival in Semonkong, check in to your lodge and have lunch before heading out for a guided walk or pony trek to Maletsunyane Falls, one of Africa’s highest single-drop waterfalls at 192 meters. Watch the mist rise from the gorge and listen to stories about local legends surrounding the falls.
Optional abseiling activity available for thrill-seekers (advance booking required). Return to the lodge for a warm evening by the fireplace.

After breakfast, leave Semonkong and drive west toward Malealea, a scenic region known for its mountain passes and deep cultural roots. The journey takes around 4 hours and crosses part of the Gates of Paradise Pass, offering spectacular highland views.
Upon arrival at your lodge, enjoy a traditional Basotho lunch and then prepare for an afternoon pony trekking excursion. Ride with a local guide into the surrounding hills, visiting villages and rock art sites. Learn about rural life, herding practices, and Lesotho’s blanket-wearing tradition.
Spend the evening with a local music group performing seotho chants and traditional instruments under the stars.

After breakfast, begin your drive back to Maseru (approx. 2.5–3 hours). Upon arrival, enjoy some free time for shopping at local craft markets where you can purchase handwoven baskets, mohair products, or Basotho hats (mokorotlo).
Depending on your flight schedule, stop by the Basotho Hat Craft Centre, a well-known spot for souvenirs and cultural displays. Your guide will then transfer you to Moshoeshoe I International Airport for your departure.
