Sossusvlei’s red dunes are among the highest and most photogenic in the world, and the only way to fully appreciate their scale is from a balloon basket at dawn. Watch the dune shadows shorten and the salt pans glow as the sun rises over the Namib.
This compact four-day itinerary pairs the balloon flight with morning dune climbing at Dune 45 and Big Daddy, and a visit to the eerie Deadvlei.
Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Windhoek to Sossusvlei
Drive south through Spreetshoogte Pass to Sossusvlei (5 hours).\n\nMeals: Lunch & Dinner
Day 2: Balloon Flight & Dunes
Pre-dawn balloon flight with champagne breakfast in the desert. Afternoon Deadvlei walk.\n\nMeals: Full board
Day 3: Sesriem Canyon & Stars
Morning at Sesriem Canyon. Afternoon at leisure. Evening stargazing.\n\nMeals: Full board
Day 4: Return to Windhoek
