Explore Mali’s rich history, river culture, and iconic mud-brick architecture across Bamako, Djenné, and Mopti
Arrive at Bamako–Sénou International Airport, where your local guide will welcome you and transfer you to your hotel. After check-in and a short rest, set out for an afternoon city tour of Bamako, Mali’s capital located on the banks of the Niger River.
Visit the National Museum of Mali, home to traditional musical instruments, textiles, masks, and terracotta statues. Walk through the Botanical Gardens and stop by the Craftsmen’s Village to see blacksmiths, leather workers, and wood carvers at work.
End the day with sunset views from Point G Hill, a historic viewpoint over Bamako. Dinner at a local restaurant.

After an early breakfast, depart Bamako and travel northeast toward Djenné (approx. 8 hours), one of West Africa’s oldest trading towns. Stop en route for lunch in a local town and experience Mali’s rural landscapes and small village life.
Arrive in Djenné in the late afternoon and check in to your guesthouse. Afterward, take a guided walk through the old city, known for its narrow alleys and adobe homes. End the evening near the Great Mosque of Djenné, the world’s largest mud-brick building.

If the day falls on a Monday, begin with a visit to the Djenné Monday Market, held in front of the Grand Mosque. Traders come from across the region to sell spices, millet, handmade cloth, and livestock. Even on non-market days, visit local weavers and mud-brick builders.
After lunch, drive to Mopti, Mali’s port town on the Niger and Bani rivers (approx. 3 hours). Upon arrival, take a sunset walk along the riverbank, watching fishermen and boats navigate the confluence.

After breakfast, head to the river for a traditional pirogue boat excursion on the Niger River. Sail past local fishing villages and islands, spotting birdlife and observing daily river life. Stop at a Bozo community, known for their expertise in fishing and boat building.
Return to Mopti and explore the town’s highlights including the Grand Mosque of Mopti, the bustling Mopti port, and the handicraft stalls near the wharf. The evening is free to enjoy Malian music at a local bar or lodge terrace.

After an early breakfast, begin the drive back to Bamako (approx. 9 hours), stopping for meals and brief rest breaks along the way. Upon arrival in the capital, visit the Bamako Grand Market for any last-minute souvenir shopping, including wax prints, beads, or carved statues.
Your guide will then transfer you to Bamako–Sénou International Airport for your outbound flight.
