Madagascar Adventure Tours | Lemur Safaris | Andasibe National Park | Madagascar Rainforest Trekking | Malagasy Cultural Tour
Upon arrival at Ivato International Airport, meet your guide and transfer east toward the Andasibe-Mantadia rainforest corridor, a 3.5-hour scenic journey through the highlands. En route, see rice paddies, traditional thatched houses, and eucalyptus groves.
Arrive at your lodge by late afternoon. After check-in, enjoy a guided night walk on the forest fringes. Expect sightings of mouse lemurs, chameleons, tree frogs, and other nocturnal life.
Overnight at Vakona Forest Lodge, Mantadia Lodge, or similar.
After breakfast, head into Andasibe National Park for a morning hike with a wildlife guide. Look and listen for the haunting calls of the Indri indri, the largest living lemur species. You’ll also have chances to see common brown lemurs, diademed sifakas, bamboo lemurs, and several species of birds and geckos.
In the afternoon, visit Vakona Private Reserve, including Lemur Island, a sanctuary where rescued lemurs roam semi-free and often interact with visitors.
Overnight at Vakona Forest Lodge or similar.
After an early breakfast, drive to Mantadia National Park, about one hour from Andasibe. This area features primary rainforest, rich in rare flora and fauna, and is less visited than the main Andasibe section. Search for black-and-white ruffed lemurs, red-bellied lemurs, and more elusive species in denser forest terrain.
Stop for a picnic lunch in the forest. Trails may pass sacred waterfalls, ancient trees, and highland viewpoints. Return in the late afternoon to your lodge.
Overnight at Vakona Forest Lodge or similar.
In the morning, explore the Analamazaotra Reserve, a part of the Andasibe forest famous for its accessible trails and rich biodiversity. This half-day walk focuses on forest birds such as couas, vangas, and the Madagascar paradise flycatcher, along with smaller lemur species and reptiles.
The afternoon is free to relax at your lodge or explore the local village. Optional: visit a nearby reptile park or butterfly house for close-up views of Madagascar’s miniature wildlife.
Overnight at Vakona Forest Lodge or similar.
After breakfast, begin your return drive to Antananarivo. On the way, stop at Peyrieras Reptile Reserve, home to dozens of species including leaf-tailed geckos, colorful chameleons, and frogs in curated natural enclosures.
Continue west and visit Ambohimanga Hill, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that was once a royal city and burial ground for Malagasy kings. It’s considered the spiritual heart of the Merina people.
Arrive in the capital by evening and check in to your hotel.
Overnight at Hotel Belvedere or similar.
Depending on your flight time, enjoy a morning city tour of Antananarivo, visiting the Queen’s Palace ruins, Independence Avenue, or the arts and crafts market for souvenirs.
