6 Days South Sudan Safari and Cultural Tour – Juba, Mundari Cattle Camps, Boma National Park, and Tribal Experiences

Arrive at Juba International Airport, where your guide will receive you for a hotel transfer. After a short rest, begin a guided city tour of Juba, the administrative and cultural center of South Sudan.

Visit the John Garang Mausoleum, the White Nile riverside, and the All Saints Cathedral. Browse through Konyo Konyo Market, known for regional goods, textiles, and household crafts. Enjoy your welcome dinner with local cuisine such as grilled Nile perch, sorghum dishes, and tamia (bean fritters).

After an early breakfast, drive north of Juba (approx. 2 hours) to visit a Mundari cattle camp. The Mundari people are known for their large-horned Ankole-Watusi cattle, intricate body decorations, and daily rituals surrounding livestock care.

Spend the day immersed in the camp’s activities: cattle washing, ash rubbing to keep insects off livestock, and body painting traditions. This is a photographic highlight, especially during golden hour as smoke rises from dung fires used to protect the animals from flies.

Return to Juba by evening.

After breakfast, begin a full-day road trip eastward to Boma National Park, South Sudan’s largest protected area. Though the journey is long (7–9 hours depending on road conditions), it provides views of untouched savannah, villages, and traditional homesteads.

Arrive in a basic bush camp or community lodge near the park edge. Dinner is served camp-style under the stars, with a briefing on the next day’s wildlife exploration.

Spend the full day in Boma National Park, home to the white-eared kob migration, one of the most substantial antelope movements in Africa. The park also supports populations of reedbuck, tiang, buffalo, and Mongalla gazelle, along with seasonal birdlife.

Visit nearby tribal communities, such as the Murle or Jie, to observe their thatched homesteads, crafts, and traditional farming or herding activities. All visits are prearranged to respect cultural boundaries.

Return to camp for dinner and overnight.
