This 8-day Equatorial Guinea itinerary offers a full-circle experience across the island of Bioko and the mainland region of Río Muni. It blends colonial heritage, volcanic lakes, wildlife-rich rainforests, beaches, and deep interaction with Bubi and Fang cultures.
Land at Malabo International Airport, meet your local guide, and transfer to your hotel in the capital.
Start your tour with a guided walk through Malabo, passing by the Cathedral of Santa Isabel, the Presidential Palace (exterior only), and Independence Square. Stroll through the local market, where you’ll see vendors selling textiles, plantains, and spices.

After breakfast, drive to Moka, a highland village in central Bioko Island. Stop at the Bioko Biodiversity Protection Program for a short talk on endemic wildlife conservation.
Continue to Lake Biao, a crater lake inside an extinct volcano, and take a light hike around the lake to spot birds, butterflies, and lush vegetation.
Return to Malabo in the afternoon.

Travel to Arena Blanca, Bioko’s most famous beach, where white sand and seasonal butterfly swarms (Nov–March) await. Enjoy a picnic by the sea and time to swim or relax.
On the return drive, stop in Riaba, a coastal town with old colonial structures and views over the Gulf of Guinea. Visit a local village en route to learn about Bubi community life.

Fly from Malabo to Bata, the capital of the mainland. Upon arrival, take a city tour of Bata, visiting the main cathedral, markets, and cultural centers that highlight Fang traditions.
In the evening, enjoy a traditional Fang music and dance performance at your hotel or local venue.

Drive early to Monte Alén National Park, one of West Africa’s most intact rainforests. With a local guide, walk through dense jungle trails in search of monkeys, forest buffalo, hornbills, and other tropical species.
Visit Sendje Waterfall for a scenic picnic, then hike further into the forest for more wildlife tracking. Return to Bata in the evening.

Travel inland to Niefang, where the forest meets cultural heritage. Meet Fang community elders, visit traditional wood-carved shrines, and learn about oral history and village customs.
