Day-by-Day Itinerary

1

Arrival in Eswatini – Transfer to Hlane Royal National Park

Your safari begins with arrival at King Mswati III International Airport or through one of the border posts like Oshoek or Lavumisa. Upon arrival, you’ll meet your local guide and transfer to Hlane Royal National Park, located in the northeast of the country. As the largest protected area in Eswatini, Hlane is managed under royal patronage and hosts elephants, white rhinos, lions, leopards (in separate zones), and over 350 bird species.

You will check in at Ndlovu Camp, where accommodations are simple but comfortable, set in a natural bush setting with waterhole views. After settling in, enjoy lunch at the camp's open-air restaurant.

In the afternoon, head out for a guided game drive in open safari vehicles. The drive is focused on locating rhinos, elephants, and antelope, with a chance to see vultures and eagles nesting nearby. Return to camp for dinner and relax under the stars.

2

Game Drives and Birdwatching in Hlane

Start your day early with a sunrise game drive, one of the best times to spot lions and other predators before the sun gets too hot. You’ll traverse woodland tracks and savannah grasslands in search of wildlife moving near the waterholes.

After a hearty breakfast, enjoy leisure time at camp or join a birdwatching walk with a guide. Hlane is known for its diverse birdlife, including marabou storks, kingfishers, and raptors. After lunch, another afternoon drive can be arranged to a different sector of the park.

Dinner and overnight stay at Ndlovu Camp.

3

Cultural Route to Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary

After breakfast, depart Hlane and head south toward the Ezulwini Valley, known as the Valley of Heaven. En route, stop at the Swazi Candles Craft Complex or House on Fire, which features handmade goods and local arts in an eclectic outdoor gallery.

Arrive at Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary, Eswatini’s oldest conservation area. Mlilwane is home to zebras, warthogs, impalas, nyalas, and hippos, and offers a relaxed, predator-free environment for walking safaris and cycling.

Check in at Mlilwane Rest Camp or Reilly’s Rock Hilltop Lodge. In the late afternoon, enjoy a nature walk with a local guide who explains traditional Swazi uses of native plants and points out wildlife along the way. Dinner is served at the camp restaurant, often with warthogs and bushbucks wandering nearby.

4

Mantenga Cultural Village and Hiking to Execution Rock

Begin with a short drive to Mantenga Cultural Village, a living museum that preserves Swazi traditions, homesteads, and customs. Participate in a guided tour of the village and enjoy a live performance of Swazi dancing and drumming, offering insight into the kingdom’s heritage and music.

In the afternoon, return to Mlilwane and hike to Execution Rock, a scenic peak with panoramic views of the Ezulwini Valley. The trail climbs gradually and is suitable for most fitness levels, with opportunities to spot birdlife and native wildlife along the way.

Dinner and overnight at your Mlilwane lodge or camp.

5

Transfer to Malolotja Nature Reserve – Highlands and Forests

After breakfast, depart for Malolotja Nature Reserve, located in the northwest highlands. Covering over 18,000 hectares, this reserve is one of southern Africa’s most scenic conservation areas, known for its rugged ridges, mountain peaks, waterfalls, and wildflower meadows.

Check in at Hawane Resort or Malolotja Campsite, depending on your style of travel. After lunch, set out on a guided nature walk in the high-altitude grasslands. Look for elands, duikers, klipspringers, and many endemic plants. You may also hear or spot rare birds such as the blue swallow or ground woodpecker.

Dinner and overnight in the Malolotja area.

6

Full Day Adventure in Malolotja – Ziplining or Waterfall Trek

Today is your full adventure day in Malolotja. After breakfast, choose between several guided activities. One popular option is the Malolotja Canopy Tour, a zip-line course that takes you through mountain gorges and across rivers on high suspension cables. It’s suitable for beginners and provides scenic thrills and fantastic photo opportunities.

Alternatively, you can join a full-day hiking trek to Malolotja Falls, the park’s largest waterfall, involving moderately strenuous hiking across dramatic terrain. Pack lunches are provided, and guides accompany all activities for safety and education.

Return to the lodge for a hot meal and a restful evening.

7

Drive to Maguga Dam and Piggs Peak – Scenic Route and Local Life

After breakfast, take a scenic drive toward Maguga Dam, a major water reservoir with views of hills and farmlands. You’ll pass through Piggs Peak, a historical mining town, and stop for a visit to Tintsaba Crafts, where local women produce intricate sisal jewelry and baskets.

Enjoy lunch at a lakeside viewpoint near the dam. Later in the afternoon, continue toward Mbabane or return to the Ezulwini Valley for your final overnight. You may check in at a comfortable hotel like The Royal Villas or a local guesthouse, depending on your preference.

Dinner is served locally, with optional shopping stops in the valley’s craft markets.

8

Mbabane City Tour – Departure

On your final day, enjoy a relaxed breakfast before a short city tour of Mbabane, the capital of Eswatini. Visit the Mbabane Market for last-minute crafts or local textiles. Depending on your flight or onward travel schedule, your guide will transfer you to King Mswati III Airport, Matsapha Airport, or your preferred border crossing.

This concludes your 8 Days Eswatini Safari, offering a balanced mix of wildlife encounters, cultural visits, nature walks, and highland adventures in one of Africa’s most welcoming kingdoms.
