Southern Mozambique Safari Tour | Maputo Special Reserve, Ponta do Ouro, Inhaca Island & Maputo City
Land at Maputo International Airport, where your guide meets you and transfers you to your hotel in the capital. Depending on your arrival time, enjoy a short walking tour around the historic Baixa district, with colonial buildings, street cafés, and colorful markets.
Relax in the evening with a traditional seafood dinner at a coastal restaurant such as Zambi or Campo di Mare.

After breakfast, depart by 4x4 vehicle for Maputo Special Reserve, a protected area on the southern coast known for its populations of elephants, hippos, antelope, zebras, and more than 400 species of birds. The drive takes around 3 hours through sandy tracks and remote terrain.
Upon arrival, enjoy a full afternoon game drive in the reserve, guided by a wildlife expert. Spot rare coastal wildlife roaming among lakes, dunes, and savannah.
Check in to your safari camp or eco-lodge inside the reserve. Dinner is served under the stars.

Wake up early for a morning game drive, taking advantage of the cooler hours to see more active wildlife.
After brunch, transfer by 4x4 to Ponta do Ouro, a scenic coastal town known for its white-sand beaches, turquoise waters, and laid-back charm. Settle into your beachfront accommodation and enjoy the late afternoon with a swim or a beach walk.

Begin the day with a boat excursion to observe wild dolphins, a signature activity in Ponta do Ouro. With ethical and licensed guides, you may have the chance to swim alongside dolphins in open waters.
Continue with a snorkeling session over the coral reefs, which host angelfish, parrotfish, rays, and sometimes turtles. Return to the lodge by late morning and enjoy a relaxed afternoon at leisure.
Overnight in Ponta do Ouro.
Spend the morning visiting a local village near Ponta do Ouro, where you’ll learn about Mozambican rural life, handicrafts, and cuisine. After lunch, transfer to the boat launch for your next destination.
Cross Maputo Bay by boat to reach Inhaca Island, a tropical escape with beaches, mangroves, and excellent snorkeling spots. Check in to your eco-lodge or island guesthouse.
Dinner and overnight on Inhaca Island.
Today you will explore both Inhaca Island and nearby Portuguese Island. Start with a guided walk through Inhaca’s coastal forest, visiting the lighthouse and marine biology station. Later, cruise to Portuguese Island, a quiet, uninhabited island with untouched beaches.
Snorkel in the calm reefs or just enjoy a peaceful day by the sea. A BBQ lunch is provided on the beach.
Return to your lodge in the afternoon. Overnight on Inhaca Island.
After breakfast, board a boat back across the bay to Maputo, and transfer to your city hotel. Spend the afternoon exploring the FEIMA Arts and Crafts Market, where you can shop for traditional wood carvings, capulana fabrics, and hand-woven baskets.
Relax for your final night in Mozambique with dinner at a rooftop restaurant overlooking the city.

After breakfast, depending on your flight schedule, enjoy a final short walk or coffee along the seaside promenade. Transfer to Maputo International Airport, where your 8-day Mozambique safari concludes.
