Arrive at Ivato International Airport and meet your local guide for a private transfer to your hotel in Antananarivo, Madagascar’s capital. Depending on arrival time, enjoy a short city tour visiting Independence Avenue or a local craft market.
Overnight at Hotel Belvedere or similar.
After breakfast, depart eastward to Andasibe-Mantadia National Park, passing scenic highland farms and eucalyptus forests. The drive takes approximately 3.5 hours. On arrival, check in to your lodge surrounded by rainforest.
In the evening, take a guided night walk to search for mouse lemurs, dwarf lemurs, chameleons, and frogs along the forest edge.
Overnight at Vakona Forest Lodge or Mantadia Lodge.
Begin the day with a guided hike in Andasibe (Analamazaotra Reserve) to track Indri indri, Madagascar’s largest lemur, whose calls echo through the canopy. You may also see diademed sifakas, brown lemurs, and colorful birds like the blue coua.
In the afternoon, visit Vakona Private Reserve and Lemur Island, where rescued lemurs live in semi-free conditions and may approach closely. Explore the nearby crocodile park if time permits.

After breakfast, begin a full-day drive south to Antsirabe, a highland town known for its cool climate and colonial charm. The journey passes through terraced rice fields and rural Merina villages. Stop for photos, local markets, or to meet artisans along the way.
Arrive in Antsirabe in the late afternoon and take a short tour of the town’s craft workshops, such as zebu horn carving or miniature bicycle makers.

After breakfast, continue to Ambositra, the heart of Malagasy wood carving and Zafimaniry culture. Stop in villages where intricate woodwork, marquetry, and sculpture are handcrafted using traditional techniques.
In the afternoon, visit a Zafimaniry community, known for their UNESCO-listed wooden architecture and heritage. Learn about their customs, beliefs, and daily rural life.
Overnight at Artisan Hotel or similar.
After breakfast, begin your journey north back to Antananarivo. Make stops at roadside fruit markets, highland viewpoints, and farming villages for insights into rural livelihoods. You may also stop at Ambatolampy, a town known for its aluminum cookware found in most Malagasy homes.
Arrive in the capital by late afternoon.

Today you head east again toward the Pangalanes Canal region. Drive to Manambato (approx. 4 hours), then board a boat transfer across Lake Rasoabe to Akanin’ny Nofy (“Nest of Dreams”), a tranquil lakeside reserve on the eastern coast.
Enjoy a peaceful afternoon surrounded by forest and water.
Overnight at Palmarium Lodge or Bush House.
Spend the day exploring the Palmarium Reserve, home to over 10 lemur species including black lemurs, crowned lemurs, and Coquerel’s sifakas. These lemurs are semi-habituated and roam freely in the lodge’s surrounding forest.
In the evening, take a boat excursion and guided walk to search for the rare aye-aye, a nocturnal lemur known for its unique middle finger and secretive habits.

After breakfast, take a boat back to Manambato and drive to Antananarivo. Depending on your departure time, you can stop for souvenir shopping at La Digue handicrafts market or visit the Queen’s Palace ruins.
Transfer to Ivato International Airport for your departure flight.
