Day 1 - Touchdown in Entebbe
Our guide will warmly welcome you at Entebbe Airport to start this 9 day journey. We'll whisk you away to a comfortable lodge near Lake Victoria to relax after your long flight. Put your feet up and enjoy dinner by the waterside. A good night's rest prepares us for an early start tomorrow.
Day 2 - Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park
After a hearty breakfast, we're off on the 5 hour drive to Kibale Forest area. We'll stop along the way to see scenic vistas, sample tasty snacks at roadside markets, and stretch our legs in charming villages. Our target is lunch in Fort Portal town before continuing to our eco-lodge. After settling in, we'll take an evening crater walk to see habituated wildlife like black and white colobus monkeys preparing for bedtime.
Day 3 - Chimp Trekking in Kibale Forest
Kibale Forest's 1500+ chimps await! After gearing up, we'll join our expert guide to track these fascinating creatures who share 98% of our genes. The forest treetops come alive as we spot them grooming and playing. Watching our closest cousins in their natural habitat is an incredible experience. After lunch back at the lodge, we'll drive through the green Crater Lakes region to Queen Elizabeth National Park for the night.
Day 4 - Game Drives & Kazinga Channel Cruise
An early morning game drive allows us to spot elephants, buffalo, big cats, warthogs and more against the sunrise. After lunch, we'll cruise the famous Kazinga Channel, a 36km natural canal linking two lakes. Kick back on deck and watch massive hippos yawning, Nile crocs gaping, and elephants splashing as birds circle overhead. Now that's a perfect afternoon!
Day 5 - Tree-Climbing Lions in Ishasha
Today we explore QENP's remote southern Ishasha sector, famous for its tree-climbing lions! After settling into our lodge, we'll venture out on an evening game drive in search of these acrobatic kings lounging in fig trees. We may also spot elephants, antelope, and if we're lucky, leopards on the prowl.
Day 6 - Transfer from Ishasha to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
After a final morning game drive, we'll make the cross-country journey to Bwindi, home of the endangered mountain gorillas. The scenic drive takes us from savanna grasslands through cultivated hills into dense forest - such diverse landscapes! We'll arrive at our lodge just in time to relax and recap our amazing adventures so far.
Day 7 - Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Forest
Today's the day we've all been waiting for - gorilla tracking! After a briefing by park rangers, we'll hike into thick vegetation searching for these elusive giants. The reward of spending a quiet hour observing them up close is indescribable. Only around 1000 mountain gorillas remain in the world, making this an extremely rare privilege! Afterward, we'll continue to beautiful Lake Bunyonyi for some R&R.
Day 8 - Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park
Farewell, peaceful Lake Bunyonyi! We're off on a stunning drive through green hills to Lake Mburo National Park today. After lunch and settling into our lakeside lodge, we'll head out on a game drive to spot graceful zebras, warthogs, antelope and more against the sunset.
Day 9 - Lake Mburo Wildlife & Return to Entebbe
We'll conclude our safari adventure with one last morning game walk and some time admiring Lake Mburo's tranquil scenery over breakfast. Then we're off, making a stop at Mabamba Swamp to search by boat for the iconic shoebill stork. Lastly, we'll drive back to Entebbe in time for your evening departure flight.
